M◐◑N DAYS — a web app for creating lunar calendar events

My dad celebrates his birthday according to the Chinese calendar, but calendar apps don’t support recurring lunisolar events. I figured I can’t be the only one who thinks this should be better supported, so I decided to build a web app: M◐◑N DAYS.

Click here to open M◐◑N DAYS.

You just fill in some normal calendar event creation data, and get that translated into a file containing annual events that can be imported into your favourite calendar app. M◐◑N DAYS works for not just the Chinese calendar, but any lunisolar calendar based off of it, like the Korean calendar.

After sharing this project with friends, I got to learn more about their relatives who also celebrate birthdays according to the Chinese calendar. Several of them even decided to research and learn more about how the Chinese calendar works, which I found really sweet.

The app took about two or three evenings after work to build.
